Venerable Amy Miller

Following Ven Amy's remarkable visit to us last year, we are delighted to offer an introductory talk and day's retreat by her on the all-important subject of death and dying. You are invited to attend either or both events.

On the Friday evening, Amy will explain how death is understood in the Buddhist tradition, both the process and the ways of dealing with it. She will give practical advice on the challenges we face in death.

The Saturday retreat will be a mixture of discussion, meditation and explanation, focusing on how we can best help ourselves and others cope with the time before and during death. How can we help a dying loved one? How can we face death ourselves without fear? These are fascinating and vital questions.

The programme is designed for caregivers, people involved in hospice work, as well as anyone interested in the Buddhist approach to death.

Amy Miller (Ven. Losang Chodren) trained extensively in hospice care and emotional support counselling for the dying during the height of the AIDS epidemic in San Francisco. She leads retreats and courses on death and dying throughout the world. Amy has been a student of Tibetan Buddhism for over 20 yeas and was ordained as a Buddhist nun in 2000. She has been teaching extensively since 1992 and is currently director of Milarepa Center, a Tibetan Buddhist retreat centre in Vermont, USA.
